The 2013 vintage had it's share of blood, sweat and tears in the Okanagan. Early bud break, a wet June followed by a smoking hot July resulted in accelerated canopy growth and was rounded out by a wet cold fall.
Naysayers would call for a challenged wine as a result, but winemaking skill shines through here: judicous management of cropping and sorting on harvest has produced a lovely flavorful and balanced expression of Naysayer in the 2013 vintage. Ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a lower alcohol than on previous vintages have blended beautifully.
Rounded notes of strawberry, cherry, black currant and sweet tobacco in the aromatics and restrained notes of red and black fruits with refined tannins in the mouth and and a lovely slightly peppery finish.
